Quezon city: The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the J. Amado Araneta Foundation and Araneta City, is set to present indigenous textiles and artisanal products at the HIBLA Weavers' Fair. The event will take place at Gateway Mall 2 in Cubao, Quezon City, from May 15-17.

According to Philippines News Agency, the fair will involve participation from over a dozen weaving communities and businesses nationwide, aligning with the National Heritage Month celebrations. PTRI Director Julius Lea±o emphasized the significance of the collaboration among public and private sectors and civil society during the event's launch.

Participants in the fair include weaving associations and businesses such as Buhi OTOP Key Players Association from Bicol, Mama Sofia Handloom Woven Products from Mindoro, and Miag-ao Weavers Association from Iloilo, among others. The fair aims to highlight the rich heritage and stories behind weaving, as expressed by Lea±o.

In addition to showcasing textiles, the event will feature weaving demonstrations and displays of natural fiber processing technologies and natural dyeing techniques. The fair provides an opportunity to appreciate the craftsmanship and cultural significance of weaving in the Philippines.
