DOT-CAR to Reuse Panagbenga Float Flowers for Upcoming Floral Arrangement Workshop

Baguio city: The Department of Tourism in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) has announced plans to recycle the flowers used in the Panagbenga Festival for an upcoming floral arrangement workshop. 'We thought of reusing the flowers for a workshop training activity on flower arrangement so that the participants do not have to buy or we do not have to buy another supply to upskill the flower arrangers or interested trainees,' DOT-CAR Director Jovita Ganongan said in a phone interview.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Tourism, along with the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority and the Philippine Retirement Authority, actively participates in the annual float parade of the renowned flower festival. The workshop is scheduled for March 2, just one day after the floral parade concludes.

The DOT-CAR advisory highlighted that the flowers featured in the DOT's Panagbenga Floral Float will be repurposed for a hands-on session. This initiative allows participants to transform the parade blooms into new arrangements. The workshop aims to guide participants through design basics, color harmony, and styling techniques, providing an opportunity to learn from experts and create their own floral masterpieces.

Meanwhile, the Panagbenga fluvial parade, which is typically funded and awarded prizes by DOT-CAR, has been canceled this year due to ongoing rehabilitation efforts at Burnham Lake.
