MANILA– The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that one lane of Regalado Ave. in Quezon City will be closed to traffic from April 17 to June 16 to pave the way for the construction of the first phase of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) that will traverse from North Ave. in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
In its traffic advisory, the DOTr asked motorists coming from San Jose del Monte to Quezon Memorial Circle to use Quirino Highway and Commonwealth Ave., as well as Belfast St. and Mindanao Ave.
Vehicles from Quezon Memorial Circle to San Jose del Monte may use Quirino Highway and Commonwealth Ave., and Bristol St. and Ascension St.
A joint task force consisting of the DOTr, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety, and the EEI will be created to implement a traffic management plan.
The MRT Line 7 project involves the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the 23-km. elevated railway line with 14 stations from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to MRT 3 North Ave. in Quezon City and the 22-km. asphalt road from the Bocaue Interchange of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to the intermodal terminal in Tala. The road component will divert northern provincial buses operation to San Jose del Monte, decongesting EDSA.
