Manila: The Department of Public Works and Highways - National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) will undertake 24-hour road and bridge rehabilitation in three cities within Metro Manila during the Holy Week holidays.
According to Philippine News Agency, the DPWH announced that these repair works will commence at 11 p.m. on April 16, Holy Wednesday, and conclude by 5 a.m. on April 21, Easter Monday. The schedule aims to minimize disruption during a period when traffic is expected to be lighter due to the holidays.
In Pasig City, the roadworks will focus on replacing an expansion joint along the southbound portion of C5 Road/Ortigas Flyover, affecting all lanes. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as the Service Road, C5 Road/Ortigas Interchange, Lanuza Avenue, and C5 Road/Sampaguita Flyover East and West Ramp.
For Makati City, the works include the removal and installation of expansion joints and the application of paint for both concrete and steel structures. This will take place from Magallanes Avenue to Alpha Land, affecting both the Magallanes Flyover Northbound (Lower) and (Upper) sections.
In Quezon City, reblocking activities are scheduled from JL Escoda Street to Congressional Auto Care and Restoration Centre Co., covering the Congressional Avenue Extension and Mindanao Avenue Underpass, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes. The Service Road is recommended as an alternative route for motorists.
The DPWH-NCR advises motorists to utilize alternative lanes and service roads to mitigate traffic congestion in the affected areas. The department assured that once the repairs are completed, the closed lanes will be promptly reopened to the public following the necessary curing period.
The department emphasized that the road reblocking and expansion joint repairs are crucial for ensuring the safety of road and bridge infrastructures for motorists in Metro Manila. Additionally, the public is encouraged to seek assistance from the DPWH-NCR Lakbay Alalay Motorist Assistance team, which will be stationed at strategic points throughout the region during the Holy Week.
