DPWH: Some Road Sections in Four Regions Still Affected by Bad Weather

Manila: Several road sections in eight regions are still grappling with disruptions due to adverse weather conditions, including the southwest monsoon, Severe Tropical Storm Crising, Tropical Storm Dante, and Typhoon Emong. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) released a situational report on Friday morning, stating that 11 roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon are currently closed to traffic. These closures are attributed to soil collapse, road slips, collapsed slope protection, and flooding.

According to Philippines News Agency, the affected roads include key thoroughfares such as Kennon Road at Camp 6 in Tuba, Benguet, and multiple segments of the Judge Jose De Venecia Boulevard Extension Service Road and Avenue in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Additionally, Urdaneta Junction routes via Tarlac and Zambales, as well as several roads in Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Batangas, are experiencing closures due to similar weather-induced damages.

The report further detailed that a total of 35 national road sections have limited access across several regions, including CAR, Negros Island Region (NIR), Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Zamboanga Peninsula. These restrictions are a result of road cuts, flooding, precautionary measures, road slips, and washed-out detour roads. Notable road sections facing limited access include Claveria-Calanasan-Flora-Lasam Road in Apayao and several segments of the Manila North Road in Bulacan and Pampanga.

The DPWH assured that all other national roads and bridges in the affected regions remain passable to all types of vehicles as of the report's release time. The department continues to monitor and address the situation to ensure public safety and restore normalcy on these vital road networks.
