DPWH Turns Over Multi-Purpose Facility, Drainage System in North Cotabato

North Cotabato: Trade and commerce in Carmen, North Cotabato, are expected to enhance the quality of life of its residents after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cotabato 3rd Engineering District turned over a multipurpose facility and drainage system on Monday. District Engineer Saidale Mitmug said the multipurpose facility is a hub that fosters local business, ensuring vendors and residents access a clean, organized space that promotes safety and convenience.

According to Philippines News Agency, the General Appropriations Act (GAA) funded the project in the amount of PHP50 million for its construction. Mitmug also appreciated the collaboration among local officials and stakeholders who helped bring the project to fruition. "Investing in infrastructure is about building a foundation for long-term growth," he said.

Moreover, Mitmug also announced the completion and turnover of the Matalam-M'lang-Bagontapay drainage canal system on Monday. Spanning a total length of 815 meters, the PHP21.4-million project marks a significant milestone in enhancing flood management in the area.

Mitmug said the newly constructed drainage canal is a source of relief for communities, enabling them to face wet weather conditions without the threat of severe flooding. Designed to manage water flow, the system protects nearby areas from water-related damage, improving residents' safety, comfort, and overall quality of life.
