DSWD-11 Distributes 1.1 Million Family Food Packs in 2024

Davao: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 in the Davao Region distributed approximately 1.1 million family food packs (FFPs) in 2024.

According to Philippines News Agency, agency data posted on Facebook Monday revealed that the distributed FFPs were valued at PHP600 million. In addition to food packs, more than PHP26 million in non-food items were dispensed to those in need.

Meanwhile, the report highlighted that 303,288 individuals received emergency cash assistance, and 118,631 families benefited from the Lawa at Binhi program. Projects LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) are designed to create climate and disaster-resilient communities. These initiatives focus on sustainable development through the construction of water reservoirs to aid farmers in overcoming dry spells.

The Disaster Response and Management Division of DSWD is responsible for planning and implementing measures to assist communities during disasters. The division aims to provide immediate support to victims through relief operations, rehabilitation, and future disaster preparation, as noted in an online post by the agency.

Additional data indicated that 412,031 regional beneficiaries received assistance amounting to more than PHP2.3 billion. This assistance comprised food aid worth PHP1.07 billion, medical aid worth PHP996.7 million, and other support services.

Looking ahead to 2025, DSWD-11 has expressed its commitment to continue offering aid to individuals or families in crises. This assistance will cover medical needs, burial expenses, transportation, education, food, or financial support for other necessities.
