DSWD Distributes Over 80,000 Family Food Packs in Masbate

Masbate: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided more than 80,000 family food packs to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi) in Masbate province.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a report released Monday, DSWD Bicol Director Norman Laurio stated that all 20 local government units impacted by the storm received family food packs and non-food items. Additional items distributed include water filtration systems, hygiene kits, family kits, kitchen kits, malongs, mosquito nets, and jerry cans.

Meanwhile, the DSWD in Bicol extended its support by providing 1,000 family tents to the DSWD in Central Visayas for families affected by the recent earthquake in Cebu. A total of ten trucks will be used to transport these supplies.

The Naval Forces Southern Luzon also contributed by transporting 10,000 family food packs from the offices of Senators Risa Hontiveros and Bam Aquino to support the victims of Opong in Masbate. "The operation ensured the timely delivery of critical assistance to communities recovering from the impact of the typhoon," it said.
