Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed a total of 1,254,157 family food packs (FFPs) to local government units (LGUs) affected by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) and Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong).

According to Philippines News Agency, Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) stated that the department's repacking centers and warehouses swiftly moved to load, transport, and deliver FFPs to the affected LGUs as soon as reports from the ground were received. The DSWD has surpassed the 1-million mark in distribution but continues to provide augmentation support.

In addition to the FFPs, the DSWD has also distributed 23,847 boxes of ready-to-eat food (RTEF) and over 31,000 non-food items (NFIs) to affected families, including stranded passengers and commuters in various ports. Dumlao highlighted that the combined relief augmentation for Tino and Uwan represents one of the largest rapid deployments of goods by the DSWD this year, benefiting communities across 17 regions.

The DSWD spokesperson emphasized that the department's primary priority is to ensure that no family goes hungry during calamities, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive. Dumlao reassured that the DSWD is committed to maintaining a steady supply of relief goods amid the extensive devastation from flooding, landslides, and prolonged power outages across several provinces.

Dumlao also expressed the department's dedication to continuing to augment the resources of local governments, stating that assistance will persist until the affected communities recover. DSWD teams and volunteers are working continuously to ensure that families can rely on timely aid as they begin rebuilding their lives.
