Tacloban: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office here provided PHP53.67 million worth of humanitarian assistance to families affected by Typhoon Tino in Eastern Visayas.

According to Philippines News Agency, the assistance distributed included 77,383 family food boxes, 5,024 ready-to-eat food packs, and 5,388 other food and non-food items such as drinking water, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies. DSWD Eastern Visayas Director Grace Subong stated that their teams continue to collect updated data on the ground while maintaining the delivery of relief aid and welfare services to ensure that all affected families receive support. Subong reaffirmed the department's commitment to a prompt disaster response, assuring the public that no family will be left behind as recovery efforts continue across the region.

Typhoon Tino affected 263,674 families from 84 local government units across the provinces of Southern Leyte, Leyte, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran when it crossed the region on November 3. The DSWD field office said they remain on standby for families affected by Super Typhoon Uwan. Based on the latest progress report, 163,107 families, or 600,627 individuals from 66 towns in six provinces were affected.

For Super Typhoon Uwan victims in Samar provinces, the DSWD has delivered PHP2.03 million worth of humanitarian assistance, which included 2,221 family food boxes, 733 ready-to-eat food packs, and PHP20,000 in financial aid under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program. The agency also reported that it has PHP89.24 million worth of available relief resources ready for deployment. This includes PHP603,000 in standby funds and PHP87.72 million worth of food and non-food items, ensuring continuous support to affected localities as the situation develops.
