Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed its gratitude to the public after the latest Pulse Asia's Ulat ng Bayan survey ranked it among the top three government agencies with the highest approval rating.

According to Philippines News Agency, the survey conducted from September 27 to 30 revealed that 71 percent of Filipinos approved of the DSWD's performance. In a statement, Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao acknowledged the trust placed in the department and highlighted the dedication of its social workers, referred to as 'Angels in Red Vests', who deliver essential services and programs daily.

The Pulse Asia survey also noted that DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian received the highest approval rating among Cabinet members, with 61 percent of respondents expressing approval. Secretary Gatchalian shared this top ranking with Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

Assistant Secretary Dumlao emphasized the department's commitment to providing proactive and caring services, especially to vulnerable and impoverished populations. She also mentioned that the survey results would serve as inspiration to further enhance service delivery to Filipino families.

Furthermore, Dumlao credited the department's success to the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and collaboration with various partners, including national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, and the private sector.

In comparison, the Pulse Asia survey ranked the Department of Education and the Department of Health as the leading agencies, with approval ratings of 82 percent and 80 percent, respectively. The survey included 1,200 respondents distributed across four major geographical areas: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region.
