Davao: The Department of Trade and Industry in the Davao Region has played a pivotal role in securing PHP243.64 million in loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) this year, as announced by an official on Thursday.
According to Philippines News Agency, DTI-11 Regional Director Romeo Casta±aga shared that a total of 706 MSMEs benefitted from these loans, primarily through the Small Business Corp.'s RISE UP Program, aimed at providing capital and supporting business expansion. "Aside from market and technology, they really need the loan for their capital. We provide the facilitation with the appropriate financing window," Casta±aga stated during a press briefing.
He further disclosed that 34% of the loans secured ranged between PHP100,000 and PHP500,000. In addition to financial support, the department reported assisting 53,907 clients in 2025, with 33,217 being MSMEs. Notably, about 87% of these assisted enterprises have now been classified as growing enterprises.
The agency has also been active in capacity building, having conducted 686 training sessions that benefited 20,479 participants. Since 2016, 992 entrepreneurs have graduated from its mentorship program. The region also saw a substantial number of business name registrations, with 43,853 recorded this year.
