Easterlies to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH Sunday

Manila: The easterlies will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers over parts of the country on Sunday. In its 24-hour forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Caraga, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean that carry moisture toward the country. According to Philippines News Agency, the weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Batanes, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by a frontal system, which may also trigger flooding or landslides. A frontal system occurs when two air masses, one warm and one cold, meet, resulting in unstable weather conditions such as cloud formation and rainfall. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain s howers or thunderstorms, also due to the easterlies. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected across the country. Temperature is expected to remain warm, with the heat index rising to 35.5°C in the afternoon.
