Manila: The eGovPH super app is back online following a temporary downtime caused by upgrades and a surge in user activity. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported that the disruption was not due to any security incident, reassuring users of the app's stability.
According to Philippines News Agency, DICT Undersecretary for e-Government David Almirol Jr. explained that the app's servers were overwhelmed by increased usage, particularly after new features were introduced. The app now boasts around 40 million users, which has significantly contributed to the rise in demand.
In response to this surge, the DICT conducted maintenance to upgrade the app's servers and restore its stability. This process took several hours over the span of two days. Almirol confirmed that the issue has been resolved, and improved server capacity is now in place to accommodate the growing number of users.
Almirol further stated that the DICT is working closely with key government stakeholders, including Malaca±ang, to strengthen the app's infrastructure and prepare for increased usage as more services are integrated into the platform. The eGovPH app, a centralized digital gateway for public services in the Philippines, integrates transactions from multiple agencies into a single super app, offering features like digital travel declarations, access to digital IDs, government services, document signing, and AI-assisted support.
Earlier, on April 13, the DICT had announced that the eGovPH app was undergoing maintenance and feature updates, temporarily making it inaccessible to the public.
