Iloilo city: Eight community-based associations in Iloilo City received a total of PHP3.65 million in capital assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

According to Philippines News Agency, the assistance aims to help associations start or expand livelihood ventures and increase members' income. The beneficiaries and their projects include the Iloilo City Weavers Association Sooc Project 4, 5, and 6, which received PHP900,000 for a weaving project. Furthermore, the Hopeville Sambag SLP Association received PHP500,000 for e-bike services, while the Kauswagan Sambag SLP Association was granted PHP550,000 for e-bike services as well.

Additionally, the Tubigan sa Maria Clara SLP Association obtained PHP300,000 for a water supply project. The Arukahik Sewers Association was given PHP600,000 for sewing services. The Lanit Senior Citizens SLP Association received PHP250,000 for rice retailing, the Mandurriao SLP Association was allocated PHP200,000 for a variety store, and the Camalig-IRPS Association was provided PHP300,000 in additional funding for its egg-laying business.

The Camalig-IRPS Association previously benefited from SLP assistance in 2024. With these latest beneficiaries, a total of 11 community-based associations have now received support through the program, including the San Juan Association and South Fundidor Onsite Association, which were aided for rice retailing projects last year.

The city government has also allocated PHP9 million as counterpart funding for community livelihood packages. Before receiving assistance, beneficiaries underwent training through the Uswag Negosyo Academy and financial literacy sessions to help ensure the sustainability of their businesses.
