Eight National Roads in Six Regions Closed Due to Flooding: DPWH

Manila: Eight national road sections across six regions have been rendered inaccessible due to severe flooding caused by the southwest monsoon, Severe Tropical Storm Crising (international name Wipha), and two tropical cyclones, as reported by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The affected regions include the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH's recent statement highlights that the road closures are a result of soil collapse, fallen trees, and extensive flooding. The specific road sections impacted include Kennon Road in Benguet, Paranaque Sucat Road in front of SM Sucat, as well as sections of the Dagupan-Lingayen Road in Dagupan City, and the Roman Expressway in Bataan. Additional closures were noted on the Paniqui-Camiling-Wawa Road in Tarlac, the Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Road in Batangas, and the Liloy-Siocon Road in Zamboanga del Norte.

Seventeen other national road sections across the same regions are experiencing limited access due to conditions such as roadcut, precautionary measures, collapsed slope protection, and washed-out detour roads. Notable among these are sections of the Claveria-Calanasan-Flora-Lasam Road in Apayao, Taft Avenue in Manila, and the Camiling-Wawa-Bayambang-Malasiqui-Sta. Barbara Road in Pangasinan. Other affected roads include sections of the Jct. Layac - Balanga - Mariveles Port Road and Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Bataan, as well as various roads in Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, and Zamboanga del Norte.

The DPWH assures that all other national roads and bridges in the affected regions remain passable to all types of vehicles as of Wednesday morning. The department continues to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
