Manila: Eighteen national road sections across four regions have been closed to traffic due to high water elevation, road cuts, soil collapse, and flooding, as reported by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday. The affected areas include 12 roads in Metro Manila, three in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), two in Central Luzon, and one in the Bicol region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the roads in Metro Manila that are not accessible include several key intersections and avenues in Quezon City, Valenzuela, Manila, and Navotas. Notable closures in Quezon City are G. Araneta corner Maria Clara Street and Sto. Domingo Avenue corner Calamba Street. In Valenzuela, MacArthur Highway and East Service Road are among the affected areas. Manila and Navotas also see significant closures, impacting major thoroughfares like Espa±a Boulevard and M. Naval Street.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region, the roads that are closed include critical sections such as the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road and Kennon Road in Benguet. Central Luzon is facing closures on the Bigaa-Plaridel via Bulacan and Malolos Road and the Paniqui-Camiling-Wawa Road in Tarlac. The Bicol region reports the closure of Oton-Buray-Sta Monica-Sn Antonio-Sn Miguel Road in Iloilo.
Additionally, 15 national road sections have restricted access due to various issues, including flooding, soil collapse, and precautionary measures. Among these, seven roads in the National Capital Region have limited access. These include Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong City and EDSA Balintawak LRT Station in Quezon City. Similar conditions are observed in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the Zamboanga Peninsula, with roads like Manila North Road and Diokno Highway experiencing limited accessibility.
All other national roads and bridges in the affected regions remain passable to all types of vehicles as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, ensuring continued connectivity in unaffected areas.
