The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP)-Local Governance and Development Office (LGDO) has announced that enrollment is now open for the course in Leadership Excellence and Development being offered to the public. To be conducted at the DAP Conference Center in Pasig City, the program is scheduled for September 28-30, 2016.
The LEAD course is one of the major offerings of the Academy along with other capacity-building programs for local functionaries and authorities, particularly local chief executives. It is a three-day course designed for executive officials and core staff/department heads to enable them to implement a more strategic management style in their localities and thus provide more efficient service to their constituents. The LEAD addresses the need to produce local government leaders who are visionaries, mission-oriented and able to meet the demands of today's results-driven organizations.
Venue for honing leadership
The training, in essence, provides a venue through which local chief executives can hone their leadership skills and potentials anchored on the principles of good and ethical governance.
The LEAD covers such topics as a general overview of federalism and decentralization in the Philippines, salient features of the Local Government Code of 1991 particularly on the roles and functions of the local chief executive, principles and characteristics of good governance, realities and challenges of local governance, managing stakeholders, LGU fiscal and budgeting system, and local revenue generation and resource mobilization. Enrollment forms may be downloaded from the DAP website topics at www.dap.edu.ph.
