Portugal edged past Croatia with a 2-1 victory. Egypt advanced by defeating Australia 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. Paraguay surprised Germany with a 4-3 win on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate. France outclassed Sweden 3-0, thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappe. The US secured a 2-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
