Cavinti: Keanu Jahns fired a 64 Friday to rule the ICTSI Caliraya Springs Championship in Cavinti, Laguna. The Filipino-German registered a 72-hole total of 22-under 266 to beat veteran Angelo Que by four strokes in the PHP2.5 million event at the Lakeside course of Caliraya Springs Golf Club.
According to Philippines News Agency, Jahns claimed the PHP440,000 top purse after maintaining composure and keeping pace with Que, knowing that the competition was intense. "I just stayed composed and kept pace with Angelo because I knew someone was bound to shoot another low score today. We were battling it out up until No. 15 -- it was a great match," Jahns said. "It was fun. I enjoy these kinds of battles. They test your experience and character, and I'm proud I handled the pressure well," the 29-year-old added.
In the previous legs, Jahns had varied results, tying for sixth at Pradera Verde, 17th at Eagle Ridge, and second at Forest Hills. Angelo Que, a three-time Asian Tour champion, posted a second straight 67 for a 270, earning PHP287,500. Rupert Zaragosa shot a 68 for third place at 274 to earn PHP160,000.
Meanwhile, in the women's division, Princess Superal dominated to receive the PHP125,000 champion's prize. "It feels great. I'm so happy. This year, I really felt that my game has improved. I've been waiting for this moment and deep down, I knew I could win again," Superal, a former US Girls' Juniors champion, expressed. Sarah Ababa secured second place with PHP82,000, followed by Florence Bisera, last year's champion Harmie Constantino, and Tiffany Lee.
