Manila: As the country observes the 83rd anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) this Wednesday, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. hopes that commemoration of this historic event will further strengthen Filipinos' resolve to defend the country against aggression.
According to Philippines News Agency, Galvez emphasized that the best way to honor the country's fallen heroes is by working together to sustain the gains of peace which they have fought so hard to achieve. He stated, "The men and women of the OPAPRU are one with the Filipino people as we pay tribute to the thousands of Filipino soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Fall of Bataan over eight decades ago."
The OPAPRU chief also noted that Araw ng Kagitingan not only honors the gallantry of the soldiers who perished during that fateful period in history, but serves as a reminder of sacrifices made in defending the country and securing a just peace. Galvez reminded Filipinos that heroism does not solely belong to those on the frontlines of battle. He urged everyone to become beacons of peace, mutual understanding, and solidarity with their unique skills and talents.
