Manila: An estimated PHP3.8 million worth of government school property went up in smoke early Sunday in this city. Supt. Leo Pioquinto, Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) marshal, confirmed the destruction of a two-story, 10-classroom school building at Taluksangay Elementary School.
According to Philippines News Agency, the fire began around 4:28 a.m. and was contained by 5:04 a.m. Authorities reported no casualties or injuries from the incident.
Pioquinto stated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Four fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection's ZCFD responded, supported by two water tankers from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
