GenSan Batang Pinoy Overall Crown Contested by Pasig and Manila

Manila: Defending champion Pasig City and the City of Manila were locked for the 2025 Batang Pinoy National Championships overall crown here as of posting time. As of 5 p.m. and with some results still being validated, Pasig held a slim lead with 38 gold, 25 silver, and 29 bronze medals in the partial and unofficial tally. The capital city followed closely with a tally of 36 gold, 31 silver, and 25 bronze medals.

According to Philippines News Agency, Baguio was running third with 29 gold, 21 silver, and 24 bronze, followed by Quezon City with 22 gold, 22 silver, and 26 bronze medals. The City of Santa Rosa in Laguna trailed with 21 gold, 18 silver, and 18 bronze medals.

On the final day of competition organized by the Philippine Sports Commission, Davao City made headlines by defeating Negros Occidental, 2-1, in the futsal boys' Under-17 championship at Mindanao Polytechnic College. Liam Hope Lumapas and Lleomer Polo each scored a goal in quick succession during the 19th minute of the second half, securing the trophy for Davao City.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga City chess prodigy IM Christian Gian Karlo Arca showcased his skills in the boys' category held at Robinsons GenSan. Arca dominated the event, winning five gold medals in categories such as 960 rapid, standard, 960 blitz, ASEAN Rapid 16AC, and ASEAN Blitz, alongside two silvers and a bronze medal.
