Gov’t launches unified drive vs. drugs

MANILA(PNA) -- The government, through the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), on Wednesday kicked off the unified campaign against illegal drugs.

The campaign was named as "Rehabinasyon (embrace and rehabilitate the nation)".

During his speech, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general and ICAD chair Isidro Lapena said that "Rehabinasyon aims to take a holistic approach in making sure that the country's drug problem will be eliminated using the full extent of the law, and at the same time, putting a premium on the rehabilitation of drug surrenderees."

The campaign features three components such as "#RealNumbers, #RealSolutions and #RealStories".

These are based on five pillars of action such as drug demand and supply reduction, civic awareness, treatment and rehabilitation, and alternative development.

Likewise, Lapena stressed that "Rehabinasyon aims to realize the vision of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that the elimination of illegals drugs will protect and ensure a better future for Filipino families, especially the youth."
