Manila: More than 99 percent of Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) transactions from January to June 2025 were processed online, as it ramped up its digital services under the banner of 'digital GINHAWA.'
According to Philippines News Agency, GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso highlighted that the digital shift has provided 'comfort, accessibility, and peace of mind' to its members and pensioners. Key services such as loan applications, information inquiries, and pensioners' compliance are now accessible through the GSIS Touch app and GWAPS (GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System) kiosks.
In a recent news release, Veloso stated, "Applying for loans, checking records, and accessing benefits can all be done with just a few taps on your phone." The data from the pension fund indicates a steady increase in digital transactions over the months.
The first quarter saw online loan applications accounting for 98.5 percent, which increased to 99.1 percent in the second quarter. Loan computation requests consistently remained above 99.5 percent, and all member information inquiries were conducted digitally.
The Annual Pensioners' Information Revalidation (APIR), an essential requirement for pensioners, also experienced a high digital uptake. In the first quarter, 95 percent of these were processed through GSIS Touch and GWAPS, which climbed to 97 percent in the second quarter.
GSIS reports that the GSIS Touch app, which has garnered over 2 million registered users, allows members both local and abroad to access services at any time, including loan monitoring, benefits tracking, and APIR compliance. Veloso emphasized the commitment to expanding digital services, urging members to keep their app updated and contact details current.
