Manila: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has partnered with Maxicare Healthcare Corp. to provide government employees with health maintenance organization (HMO) coverage through a zero-interest loan, repayable over 12 months.

According to Philippines News Agency, this agreement marks the first collaboration under G-HEALTH, a proposed financing initiative aimed at assisting state workers in utilizing the medical allowance granted under Executive Orders 64 and 95. This program allows employees to avoid paying their annual insurance premiums in a single payment. GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso emphasized that quality healthcare should be accessible to every government employee. Through G-HEALTH, the organization aims to make health insurance more affordable by offering interest-free installment plans while maximizing the value of the Medical Allowance.

The program enables members to browse and compare packages from accredited health insurance providers via the GSIS Touch mobile application. Once a plan is selected, GSIS will finance the premium at zero interest, distributing the cost into 12 monthly installments. Approximately 214,000 regular GSIS members are expected to benefit from this initial rollout, with qualified dependents also eligible for enrollment under the member's chosen package.

Veloso further stated that GSIS is preparing similar agreements with other providers to offer members more options tailored to their healthcare needs and budget. GSIS clarified its role as the program administrator and financing intermediary, while participating providers will handle medical services, claims processing, and benefit administration. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance healthcare benefits for government employees and is part of the GSIS Ginhawa programs for members and their families.
