GSIS Davao Branch Breaks Ground, To Open in 2026

Davao: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Friday broke ground on its new Davao branch along McArthur Highway in Matina. It is expected to open to the public by 2026.

According to Philippines News Agency, GSIS Chairperson Rodolfo del Rosario led the ceremony, joined by GSIS officer-in-charge Juliet Bautista, Acting Senior Vice President for VisMin Operations Isagani del Rosario, and officials from the Davao, Kidapawan, and Tagum branches. Chairperson del Rosario highlighted that the project symbolizes a commitment to bring government service closer to the residents of Mindanao. He emphasized that the new facility aims to foster a stronger connection with GSIS members in the region.

The planned two-story structure will replace the old GSIS office, which was closed in 2019 due to structural issues from frequent earthquakes. The new building is designed to be disaster-resilient, accessible, and focused on member needs. Bautista stated that this initiative is part of GSIS's broader strategy to modernize its facilities and enhance member experience nationwide.

The Davao branch, which was established in 1957, is one of the oldest GSIS offices. It has grown from serving 8,000 members with a 10-person team to catering to over 47,000 active members and 16,000 pensioners across Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and nearby provinces.
