Antique: Antique Governor Paolo Everardo Javier on Monday urged the provincial board to prioritize the budget for the electric subsidy and hospital improvement. Javier, who presented his executive agenda, plans and platforms, during the board's inaugural session, said the PHP500 monthly subsidy for the electric bill of every household and the improvement of the nine hospitals in the province are two of the major priorities under his administration.
According to Philippines News Agency, Javier intends to provide a subsidy using the share of the province from the national wealth to 115,000 households that are consumers of the Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) and around 30,000 Antique±o households connected with Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco). As for hospital improvement, the governor wanted timely and appropriate care for patients.
'I want the Angel Salazar General Memorial Hospital (ASMGH), which is the provincial hospital in San Jose de Buenavista, to provide better healthcare services,' he said. The governor also wanted the eight other district hospitals in the province to render the same services through the acquisition of necessary equipment and medicines. He said the 'zero billing policy' should be implemented, especially among the indigent patients.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Genevive Lim-Reyes in her inaugural address said she is committed to working closely with Javier and other local leaders to achieve their shared vision for the province. 'As legislators, our priority is to listen to the needs and concerns of our constituents and to craft policies that are aligned with the plans and programs of our governor and the national government,' Reyes said. She assured the governor that the policies on economic growth, healthcare enhancement, and social services, among others, will be strengthened effectively.
Board Members Karmila Rose Dimamay, Gaseva Recopuerto, Dante Beriong, Vincent Piccio, Emmanuel Palacios, Jr., Zoilo Bernardo Tubianosa, Joseph Eugene Alojipan, Noel Alamis, Fernando Corvera, Sr., and Ricky Lavega, in their speeches, expressed their support for the governor's plans.
