Manila: A huge part of the country will experience rains caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat and the easterlies, the weather bureau said on Tuesday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated that the habagat will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. According to Philippines News Agency, scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will also prevail across Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region. Moderate to heavy rains in these areas could result in flash floods or landslides. The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to the habagat as well as localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms. PAGASA also forecasts moderate winds and moderate coastal waters across the western section of Luzon. In other parts of the country, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that no low pressure area is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation.
