HAJJ: TH ASSURES PILGRIMS OF EFFICIENT, CONVENIENT PAYMENT SERVICE FOR ‘DAM’, SACRIFICIAL RITES

MAKKAH, - Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), which provides comprehensive Hajj management services, has assured that all matters related to the payment of 'dam' (penalties imposed on pilgrims who violate certain rules while performing Hajj) and sacrificial rites are handled efficiently and conveniently to ease the process for pilgrims. TH financial operations director Anisuati Yahya said this was due to the collaboration established over the past 10 years with the local banking institution, Islamic Development Bank (IDB). "The payment of 'dam' is done after the Hajj operations, in the month of Muharram. The service makes it more comfortable for the pilgrims as the 'dam' payments managed by TH are carried out in a systematic and well-organised manner. "All transactions can be done through THiJari (TH's network of digital services) and also through the TH counters provided at the accommodation centres as well as at the counters back home," he told media personnel at the TH Headquarters here yesterday. She said Hajj pilgrims and TH depositors could also take advantage of the sacrificial rites payment service through the THiJari application. The payment for dam this year is set at RM725 for a goat or sheep, and the slaughtered meat will be distributed to eligible residents in Makkah. Meanwhile, the payment for the sacrificial rite is set at RM936 for a goat or sheep, and the distribution will be handled by the IDB to eligible Muslim residents, particularly in the Gulf region and the African continent. For the 1445H/2024 Hajj season, 21 finance team members have been assigned in the Holy Land with five of them stationed in Madinah, and the rest in Makkah. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
