Dumaguete City: Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo spearheads the Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) national training pool for 2025. Olympian Elreen Ann Ando, who clinched a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games, joins the roster along with Angeline Colonia and Lovely Inan, each having secured two golds and a silver at the 2024 IWF World Junior Championships in Leon, Spain.
According to Philippines News Agency, other notable members of the women's team include siblings Rosegie and Rose Jean Ramos, Rosalinda Faustino, and Kristel Macrohon. Rosegie Ramos (Junior) and Jhodie Peralta (Youth) each took home three gold medals, while Rose Jean Ramos (Junior) earned one gold and two silvers, and Faustino (Youth) captured two silvers and a bronze at the 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Championships in India.
Aldrin Colonia and Prince Keil Delos Santos also made impressive performances at the 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Championships in Qatar. Colonia collected two golds and one silver in the Youth category, whereas Delos Santos achieved three silvers in the Youth and three bronzes in the Junior category. Both athletes are part of the men's training pool, which includes Eron Borres, Albert Ian Delos Santos, Fernando Agad Jr., and siblings Dave Lloyd and Dave Angelo Pacaldo, among others.
The SWP National Open 5-in-1 event is scheduled to take place in Dumaguete City in May, where selections will be made for the team representing the Philippines at the SEA Games in Thailand this December. The Philippines is also set to compete in several international events, including the IWF World Youth and Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, SEAWF Championships in Singapore, IWF World Championships in Forde, Norway, and the Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain.
