Manila: The House of Representatives on Tuesday canceled its plenary session scheduled for the day, but retained its work-from-home arrangement and the online conduct of Committee meetings. House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil announced the arrangements in an early advisory issued by authority of House Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III.
According to Philippines News Agency, the advisory cited inclement weather conditions as the reason for the cancellation. It instructed that all officials and employees should observe a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement, except those required for essential and critical operations as determined by their respective Heads of Department. The House adopted this arrangement following the Office of the President Memorandum Circular No. 128 dated 17 August 2026.
Despite the adoption of WFH arrangements, legislative work will continue with the House proceeding with its scheduled committee meetings via Zoom, subject to the discretion of their respective committee chairs. Additionally, the budget briefing scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled to a later date.
House officials and employees working from home were directed to remain available and responsive during official working hours to ensure the continuity of essential legislative and administrative services. The advisory also emphasized the importance of safety, advising everyone to exercise utmost caution and prioritize their well-being.
The latest advisory amended the advisory issued Monday evening, specifically regarding the provisions pertaining to the conduct of the Plenary Session via Zoom.
