House Speaker Urges Lawmakers to Maintain Legislative Momentum

Manila: Speaker Faustino Dy III called on members of the House of Representatives to sustain focus, discipline, and urgency as the session resumed Monday, emphasizing the need to build on previous successes. The chamber has made significant progress by passing or advancing 18 of the 52 Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures before the six-week break.

According to Philippines News Agency, Speaker Dy highlighted the importance of transforming public expectations into enduring laws, while cautioning against complacency despite the progress made. He noted that the chamber's performance demonstrated the ability to advance major priority measures amidst a packed schedule. However, he stressed the necessity for sharper coordination among House leaders, committees, and members in the remaining session days.

Dy emphasized that the ultimate judgment of Congress lies not in the hours spent in session but in the impactful reforms delivered for the people. He urged all House members to remain focused, continue their efforts, and maintain legislative momentum, expressing gratitude for their service to the Filipino people.

The Speaker underscored the need to handle remaining priority measures according to their readiness, with committees continuing technical work and the plenary focusing on bills ready for action. He assured that House leadership will align floor scheduling, committee output, and Rules Committee coordination to prevent stalling of measures nearing passage.

Dy reiterated that each LEDAC measure serves a public purpose, with sectors waiting for relief, communities seeking better services, or long-overdue reforms. He called for concrete action, demonstrating Congress's ability to complete its work with order and seriousness.

He reaffirmed the House's commitment to its responsibility, recognizing the significance of every remaining session day for the people served. The Speaker vowed to maintain collaboration with the Executive to advance President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s priority agenda while preserving the chamber's role as an independent institution that deliberates, refines, and delivers legislation.
