Manila: The number of houses damaged during July's severe weather has climbed to 88,492, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Friday. The total number is significantly higher than the 73,059 houses reported by the disaster response agency on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, of the 88,492 affected houses nationwide, 9,707 are classified as "totally damaged" and 78,785 as "partially damaged," the NDRRMC reported. Region 1, or the Ilocos Region, reported the highest number of damaged houses at 81,983, with 73,295 categorized as "totally damaged" and 8,688 as "partially damaged."
Estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure as of Friday was PHP2,984,143,362 and PHP15,723,471,287, respectively. The severe weather that impacted the country last month was caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon and a succession of cyclones - Crising (International name Wipha), Dante (International name Francisco), and Emong (International name Co-may).
