Manila: The International Criminal Court's (ICC) investigation into other key personalities involved in former president Rodrigo Duterte's war on illegal drugs is actively progressing, as confirmed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday. This development follows the issuance of an arrest warrant against Duterte, signaling that other individuals are under scrutiny for their alleged roles in the controversial anti-drug campaign.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty highlighted that police chief-turned-senator Ronald Dela Rosa and retired police chief Oscar Albayalde are among the prominent figures under the ICC's ongoing investigation. In a panel discussion with Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, Ty noted that the language in the arrest warrant indicates that several individuals are being examined, although the exact details remain undisclosed.

Ty emphasized that the DOJ is not privy to the specifics of who is being investigated or the status of the ICC's inquiry. However, he confirmed that Dela Rosa and Albayalde are included among those being investigated. Despite the ongoing probe, Ty clarified that no arrest warrant has been issued against Dela Rosa and Albayalde at this time.

Assuring the public, Ty stated that the government is prepared to execute any arrest warrants that the ICC may issue against other individuals involved. He urged the public to await further developments regarding potential arrest warrants for these figures.

The DOJ also reiterated on Wednesday that the Philippine government adhered to both domestic and international legal procedures when executing the arrest order against Duterte earlier in the week.
