Ilocos Norte Government Opens 1,298 Scholarship Slots for Senior High School Students

Ilocos norte: About 1,298 scholarship slots have been opened by the provincial government for senior high school students of Ilocos Norte. Willie Jake Sib-at, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Education Office, told the Philippine News Agency that the bulk of the slots, or 980, are for academic scholarships, while 340 are for agriculture and fisheries and 50 for arts, with the last two under the technical-vocational-livelihood strand.

According to Philippines News Agency, scholars are given a stipend ranging from PHP5,000 to PHP10,000 per semester. The provincial government is currently accepting applications for these scholarship grants, reminding applicants to complete the requirements on or before July 22, 2025. Every year, more than PHP900 million is allocated by the Ilocos Norte government to sustain academic excellence and help reduce poverty through education.

For the tertiary level, Sib-at mentioned that they are still in the process of determining how many slots will be available, as they wait for existing scholars to renew their applications. Existing scholars are required to submit various documents, including a renewal form, voluntary service documentation, Barangay certification of voluntary service rendered, and an original certificate of grade.

For junior and senior high school scholars, additional documents such as a photocopy of form 138 or the report card, authenticated Form 5 or assessment form, and both original and photocopy of the certificate of enrollment are required to be submitted for renewal.
