Ilocos norte: The Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) has issued a warning to the public regarding the increasing number of online scams, such as the 'Ayuda scam,' which deceives individuals with fake messages offering cash aid in return for personal information. According to Philippines News Agency, PCol. Joemar Labiano, the INPPO provincial director, addressed the public during a press briefing on Monday, advising them to remain "cautious and vigilant" when dealing with unknown messages. He emphasized the importance of verifying any communications that promise money, prizes, or require urgent action. Labiano highlighted the ongoing crisis and how scammers are exploiting the situation to target vulnerable individuals. He urged the public to avoid sending money to suspicious parties and to be wary of clicking on dubious online links. In cases where individuals encounter suspicious activities, Labiano encouraged immediate reporting to authorities or the nearest police station. He also mentioned th at the INPPO's cyber unit is actively expanding its security measures to better monitor social media and digital platforms for potential threats or misinformation.
