CHO Health Emergency Management Coordinator Darianne Joy Papa emphasized the need for the public to take all precautions against heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
Heat stroke occurs when the body overheats due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures or intense physical activity in hot weather. Its symptoms include high body temperature, confusion or altered mental state, nausea and vomiting, headache, flushed skin, rapid breathing, and a racing heartbeat.
The health office advises calling for emergency services in case of suspected heat stroke. It is recommended that the public limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, schedule strenuous activities for early morning or late afternoon, wear sunscreen, and opt for light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
