Iloilo city: The Iloilo provincial government officially launched its 'Provincial Community Defense for MoRProGRes' during a special meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council. This initiative aims to bolster peace, order, and resilience across the province, aligning with Executive Order No. 111 signed by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr.
According to Philippines News Agency, the program, also referred to as 4K for MoRProGRes or Kapayapaan, Kaayusan at Katatagan Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas, forms part of the province's development vision. MoRProGRes stands for Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient Iloilo. Governor Defensor highlighted the program's focus on community defense and service, emphasizing the importance of protecting and promoting the welfare of citizens and local government units.
The initiative is designed to foster an intensified, integrated, and collaborative community approach to handle various challenges, including internal and external threats, natural disasters, pandemics, social disorders, and other emergencies. Governor Defensor noted that peace, order, and resilience are crucial for national development, which in turn strengthens these aspects.
The program will incorporate strategies such as enhancing the implementation of existing projects, harmonizing efforts with national government agencies and private sector partners, and promoting collaborative community defense actions. The Provincial Community Defense Cluster is tasked with formulating relevant policies and programs for recommendation to the governor.
