MANILA: First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and her mother-in-law, Imelda Romualdez-Marcos visited the Museo ng Sapatos (shoe museum) in Marikina City on Monday. In a news release Tuesday, Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said his wife, First District Rep. Marjorie Ann Teodoro, welcomed the Marcos ladies and led the guided tour. The museum, which holds approximately 800 pairs of shoes from the former first lady's renowned collection, has undergone significant upgrades, the mayor said. 'This museum is not just a repository of footwear. It is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the Filipino people. It stands as a symbol of our rich history and our continuing journey as a nation," Mayor Teodoro said. 'Through these renovations, we aim to provide a more immersive and educational experience for all visitors, showcasing the pride and craftsmanship of Marikina's shoemakers.' The museum opened in 2001 as a symbol of the rich history and craftsmanship of the city's shoe industry. Source: Trend News Agency
