Manila: The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday urged authorities to take advantage of the improved weather this week to speed up ongoing search and rescue operations in areas affected by recent earthquakes. "We're expecting better weather conditions in the coming days. It would be better to deploy people for search and rescue operations and maximize the better weather this week," PAGASA weather specialist Munir Baldomero said during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.

According to Philippines News Agency, Tropical Storm Ramil left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, and Baldomero said no other weather disturbance is expected to affect the country for the next few days. "The country will experience generally good weather, with isolated rain showers in the afternoon or evening," he said.

Baldomero mentioned that PAGASA might declare the onset of amihan or northeast monsoon by the end of October or the first week of November, which could lead to cooler weather. Meanwhile, he noted the possibility of one more tropical cyclone entering or developing inside PAR this month, with up to five before the year's end. So far, three tropical cyclones-Paolo, Quedan, and Ramil-have entered or developed within the PAR this October.
