Indigent Senior Citizens in Legazpi City Receive PHP20.3 Million in Social Pensions

Legazpi city: Indigent senior citizens here have received their social pension amounting to a total of PHP20.3 million from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

According to Philippines News Agency, DSWD Regional Director Norman Laurio reported that 3,396 beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) program in Legazpi City received their stipends for both the first and second quarters during a scheduled payout earlier this week.

Each beneficiary is entitled to a monthly stipend of PHP1,000, which is distributed through their respective Local Government Units following the Transfer of Fund (TOF) implementation guidelines established by the DSWD. The City Government of Legazpi, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, facilitated the distribution of social pensions across the 70 barangays.

The SPISC is a program designed for indigent senior citizens who do not have a pension, income, or regular family assistance to meet their basic needs.
