KUALA LUMPUR: May 17 -- The 'Jom Jalan Bersama National Press Club (NPC) 2024' walkathon to be held on June 2 will be a platform to unearth new walking talents in national sports. NPC deputy president Haresh Deol said in the past Malaysia had many successful athletes in the walk events and among them were V. Subramaniam and Yuan Yufang who achieved glorious achievements on the international field, however, there now seems to be a dearth of such athletes. 'Therefore with this programme which has the support of the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletic Association (FTKLAA), we hope it will stimulate the involvement of more walkers in sports thus helping us to identify new talents," he said when appearing as a guest on the Apa Khabar Malaysia programme aired on Bernama TV today. According to Haresh, 'Jom Jalan Bersama NPC', which will flag off at 6.30 am at Padang Merbok here, will receive a boost with the participation of national sports legend Datuk M Jegathesan as well Yufang. "Even though registration is full, do not worry because this programme is held in a public place, so anyone interested in participating can come to the location," he added. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
