Kin of agrarian reform beneficiaries to get TESDA skills training

Information

The Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will provide skills training to dependents of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Zambales.

Emmanuel G. Aguinaldo, provincial agrarian reform program officer, said on Wednesday that he met and discussed with TESDA representatives how to empower the ARBs’ children not only in the field of agriculture.

Aguinaldo said the partnership between TESDA and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is aimed at providing options to ARBs’ dependents.

He said the skills training to be provided will not only focus on agricultural courses but also electronics, practical electricity, driving, welding, and domestic household work.

"Although we realize that organizational development and strengthening and agricultural production seminars being conducted by DAR are necessary, we have to find ways how to augment ARB household income. Skills training and eventual employment of ARBs' children will go a long way in breaking dependency of ARB households on farm income alone,” Aguinaldo said in a news program.

He encouraged ARBs’ dependents to avail of the various skills training offered by TESDA for the enhancement of their capabilities and earnings.

Aguinaldo said they can enroll in skills training programs offered under the Training for Work Scholarship Program.

“TESDA registered schools offer other qualifications under their scholarship programs which the ARBs’ dependents may avail,” he added.
