La Union Hospital Boosts Facilities, Tech

San Fernando City: The first phase of the Patient Support and Administration Building (PSAB) at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in San Fernando City, La Union, has been completed, alongside the installation of a new computed tomography (CT) scan apparatus.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOH-Ilocos Region Director Paula Paz Sydiongco emphasized the agency's commitment to improving health facilities by enhancing infrastructure, elevating care quality, increasing access, and promoting health equity. Sydiongco detailed that the completed section of the five-story PSAB spans the basement, which serves as a parking area, and the second floor, housing administrative services and the Hospital Operations and Patient Support Service offices. The first phase of this new building was funded from hospital income, totaling PHP118.2 million.

The newly installed CT scan apparatus is located on the third floor of the outpatient building. It was purchased through the DOH Health Facility Enhancement Fund Continuing Appropriation 2024, for PHP130 million. 'We are witnessing these achievements through strategic investments in physical infrastructure, technological advancements, and workforce development. These efforts also include the implementation of improved programs for health, engaging with communities for their health and safety,' Sydiongco stated.

ITRMC Medical Center Chief II Eduardo M. Badua III, in a separate statement, announced that the services for the new CT scan are free for admitted patients at the medical center. 'Patients will benefit significantly with this new equipment in our hospital. This will improve access to care, enhance efficiency, and promote better health outcomes for our community,' he said.
