Taguig city: Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday rejected calls for a "ceasefire" following his expos© of alleged irregularities in infrastructure projects in Taguig City, stating he would persist in investigating corruption involving flood control projects.

According to Philippines News Agency, on Wednesday, Lacson submitted what he described as "damning evidence" to the Office of the Ombudsman, highlighting alleged double billing and other irregularities related to slope protection and other infrastructure projects in Taguig City. This area is known to be the political stronghold of former Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

Lacson criticized an offer of a "ceasefire" from someone he accused of acting arbitrarily and without provocation, calling it an act of hypocrisy intended to buy time for regrouping. He expressed his disapproval through a post on X, questioning the sincerity of the ceasefire offer.

Lacson assured that he would reveal the detailed findings regarding the alleged anomalies during the upcoming Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control projects. He has been vocal about defending his integrity, especially after Cayetano's alleged insinuations about his net worth.

The senator clarified that his wealth was accumulated through legitimate business activities during his three-year hiatus from the Senate. He emphasized that integrity, inherited from his parents, remains his most cherished possession.
