Manila: College of Saint Benilde (CSB) will eye a seat in the second round when it battles Perpetual Help in the 2025 Shakey's Super League (SSL) Preseason Unity Cup at Paco Arena in Manila on Sunday. The Lady Blazers and the Lady Altas square off at 10 a.m.
According to Philippines News Agency, CSB beat San Sebastian College, 25-17, 25-20, 25-18, in its first match on Friday to share the Pool D lead with Ateneo de Manila University. "It's still the same, we're still going to work. The important thing is to get the game out and execute what we're practicing," CSB head coach Jerry Yee said in a statement. Zamantha Nolasco, Shekaina Lleses, Camila Bartolome, and Rhea Densing will banner the four-time champion Lady Blazers.
Perpetual prevailed over San Sebastian (30-32, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18) but lost to Ateneo in its next match (16-25, 24-26, 17-25). Meanwhile, Shaina Nitura will lead National Invitationals Cebu leg champion Adamson University against Jose Rizal University (JRU) in Pool B at 2 p.m. JRU dropped its first two games to Far Eastern University and Arellano University. Lyceum of the Philippines University (0-1) and Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-2) will meet in Pool A at 12 noon. Pool C leader University of the Philippines (2-0) is the first team to advance to the second round.
