Manila: Adamson University decisively defeated Far Eastern University, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14, in the finals of the 2025 Women's V-League Collegiate Challenge at the Filoil EcoOil Center. This victory marks Adamson's fourth overall crown in the tournament's history.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Lady Falcons rebounded from a setback in Game 2, where they experienced a 13-25, 22-25, 25-15, 23-25 loss. This victory adds to their previous V-League titles won in 2008 and 2010 under coach Dulce Pante, with notable players such as Pau Soriano and Lizlee Gata-Pantone. The team also claimed the 2019 PVL Collegiate Conference crown with coach Lerma Giron at the helm.
Head coach JP Yude praised the team's adherence to strategy and mental resilience, highlighting the importance of their pre-game preparations. "First of all, we praise God for the win because in the hectic games the Lord sustained the strength of the kids," Yude remarked. He emphasized the importance of focus and positivity that the team brought into the final match, which they lacked in Game 2.
Tournament MVP Shaina Nitura was instrumental in the Lady Falcons' success, contributing 17 points along with 13 digs and 10 receptions. Her performance throughout the series earned her the Finals MVP title, with an impressive average of 23.33 points per game. Nitura expressed gratitude for the lessons learned from their previous loss, crediting it for strengthening the team.
In addition to Nitura's stellar performance, Nigerian outside spiker Francess Mordi added 19 points, primarily from attacks, while Eloi Dote contributed 11 points, including three aces. Best Setter Fhei Sagaysay delivered 23 perfect sets, alongside three points and seven digs, further solidifying Adamson's commanding performance.
Adamson concluded the tournament with an outstanding 11-1 record. Meanwhile, FEU's Jaz Ellarina managed 11 points with four attacks, four blocks, and three aces, as the team finished second for the third consecutive year, following previous losses to the College of St. Benilde in 2023 and the University of Santo Tomas in 2024.
