Laguna: The provincial government of Laguna recorded 71 firecracker-related injury cases, mostly negligible, during the holiday period from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, based on the latest consolidated data. Provincial Information Officer Danilo Lucas said the figures were gathered from district hospitals and partner health facilities across the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, JP Rizal District Hospital in this city reported the highest number of cases with 12, followed by Calamba Doctors Hospital with 2, and both Calamba Medical Center and St. John the Baptist Medical Center with one each. Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz town logged 10 cases, while San Pablo City District Hospital recorded six.
San Pedro City accounted for 24 cases across various facilities, including CHO-coordinated hospitals with 13 cases, Gavino Galvez Primary Care Center with 8, San Pedro Medical Center with 1, and Evangelista Medical Specialty Hospital with 2. Notably, the San Pedro District Hospital reported no cases.
Other cases were treated at Bay District Hospital with 5 cases, Bay RHU-BHS with 2, Cailles District Hospital with 4, and at district hospitals in Majayjay, Luisiana, and Nagcarlan. 'The mostly minor cases show that our sustained safety reminders are working, but we continue to urge the public to remain cautious and seek immediate medical attention when needed,' Lucas said.
