Laguna: The provincial government has initiated the conversion of a storage building within the Laguna University complex into 14 temporary classrooms and a faculty room to ensure that classes proceed as scheduled for the first semester starting in July.

According to Philippines News Agency, Danilo Lucas, the Provincial Information Officer, stated that this initiative was a direct response by Governor Sol Aragones following the discovery of cracks in the university's main building, which is currently under investigation.

Lucas explained that the temporary classrooms are being equipped with armchairs and air-conditioning units to create a suitable learning environment while authorities continue to assess the damage to the main structure. He emphasized that the governor has mandated the completion of these temporary facilities before the commencement of classes, in alignment with the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) face-to-face learning directives.

During a recent inspection of the construction site, Governor Aragones expressed her commitment to ensuring the availability of classrooms by July and compliance with CHED's requirements. Lucas also noted that the investigation into the structural damage is ongoing and that collaboration with CHED and the university will continue to ensure safety and adherence to regulations.
